Contribute to the Foundation

Dear Parents, Alumni, and Friends,

As we start our new fiscal year, we are asking you to demonstrate your support for the children and teachers in Columbia’s excellent public school system by making a contribution to the Foundation.  The Columbia Public Schools Foundation provides current and future funding to support the continued success of our students, teachers, and the public schools of Columbia.  Your contribution to our endowed fund will contribute over many years to the ongoing excellence of the Columbia Public Schools.

Since the 1997-1998 school year when we first awarded grants, the Foundation has provided over $550,000 to Columbia Public Schools programs.  Our 2010 grants funded programs such as Smart Music Technology, SMART Boards for Elementary Art and Music Classes, the M.A.C. Scholars First Annual Achievement Gap Conference, and a Summer Expedition Program for at-risk students showing high potential.  We were excited to learn that Columbia College offered future scholarships to qualifying participants in the Summer Expedition program.  This program, and others that the Foundation has funded, would simply not have been possible without your support.

In addition to requesting your ongoing support, I invite you to mark your calendars for our annual “Hall of Leaders: A Night of Stars” event, the  special evening when we recognize the accomplishments of our awardees in the alumni, volunteer, and educational profession categories, and feature some of the best of Columbia’s student talent.  This year’s event will be held on October 20, 2011 at the Missouri Theatre. Formal invitations will be mailed later this year and we look forward to seeing you then.

Together we have and will continue to make a significant difference in the lives of children and our community.  Please partner with us by returning your gift in the enclosed donation envelope. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Patti Coffelt, President

Columbia Public Schools Foundation
