Grant Awards for 2008
CPSF awarded the following educational grants for the 2007-2008 school year.
Animal Excursions (a.k.a. the Critters Program) ($15,000)
This grant provides a variety of animals on loan to classrooms throughout the district for enrichment opportunities in language acquisition, science knowledge, and artistic expression.
Bridging the Gap! ($13,290)
This grant will help high schools develop and implement strategies to decrease the achievement gap among minorities and free/reduced lunch students who have good attendance but are not succeeding in school. Strategies include transitional programs for entering high school, study skills, organizational skills, career path counseling, reading enhancement, etc.
Read Us a Winner! ($9,500)
This grant provides library books for K-5th grade in all 19 CPS schools with 50 books per school for a total of 1000 books.
Enhancing Social Studies Instructional Environment with Wireless ($6,828)
This grant will provide wireless keyboards, air mouse technology and remote controls to all middle and junior high social studies classrooms.
